Blackwater & Dengie League 10th February 2008 Under 8’s Focus Ferrers Tigers 1 v 3 Tiptree Minors Needing victory to have a chance of the title, the Minors overcame a strong and previously unbeaten Focus Ferrers in a top of the table clash in the final match of the season. Both teams were up for the challenge and in an extremely sporting match it was the home team who started the better and took the lead after 5 minutes through a good passing move down the right. Tiptree maintained their composure and after 10 minutes finally managed to break back into the game after a well worked corner from Aaron Curwood and a superb long range shot from Alex Holder into the top of the net. Tiptree worked extremely hard with Callum Edwards and George Barton winning the ball in midfield and both teams creating scoring opportunities. The Minors continued to press for a second goal and it was another brilliantly taken long range shot from Alex that took the lead into half time. The second half was again closely contested and only resolute defending from Captain Aaron Curwood, Connor Swallow and the strong hands of Cameron Wright kept the home side at bay. Finally with 10 minutes to go Tiptree got a third to relieve the tension of their vocal supporters - again it was man of the match Alex that crossed the ball for top scorer Ryan Carter to bundle over the line. A great performance by Tiptree Minors to win the title in their first season. Well done to the entire squad, including Joseph Hammond, Adam Jones, Matthew Hyde and Harry Dalton! 6th January Blackwater & Dengie League Under 8's North Fambridge Flyers 0 - 6 Tiptree Minors The under 8's got 2008 off to a winning start with a wonderful away victory over the team just below them in the league. The team were all creaking a bit following their first training session of the New Year and the supporters wondered when the first goal would come after several close shaves. Ryan Carter (man of the match) scored the first of four goals with a mazy run in the box. The team demonstrated some excellent passing moves, especially George Barton who played with an injury, Joseph Hammond and Aaron Curwood crossing from the back. Callum Edwards got the 5th goal after a selfless pass from Ryan and the set was completed by Harry Dalton towards the end. The whole team put in a wonderful effort and the clean sheet was thanks to the defensive players of Connor Swallow, Adam Jones and Cameron Wright. 23rd September 2007 Tiptree Minors - 11 vs New Latchingdon Pheonix - 0
The under 8's continued their impressive start to the season
with an excellent display against Latchingdon. In their
sternest test so far the scoring was opened by Callum Edwards,
who got a hat-trick on his first start with other goals by Alex
Holder (4), Joseph Hammond (2) and birthday boy George Barton
(1). The defensive pairing of Aaron Curwood and Adam Jones were
solid and linked up superbly with the midfield terriers of Harry
Dalton and Connor Swallow. Cameron Wright kept another clean
sheet, but Man of the Match went to Callum, whose 3rd goal was
an absolute blinder.

The team continued their excellent start to the
season with a convincing win against their local
rivals. Boosted by new additions to the team,
including a great goalkeeper in Cameron Wright and
another fantastic performance by Captain Aarron
Curwood who opened the scoring in the first half.
Thanks to further goals from George Barton, a debut
goal from Ryan Carter, and one from Harry Dalton the
team were 4-0 up at half time. In the second half
spectators were delighted to see Connor Swallow and
Joe Hammond get well deserved first goals. With two
wins in two games, the Manager was delighted with
the whole team who all contributed to the
performance.
