Danbury Juniors 2-1 Tiptree Minors Dodgers

This is it, the final game of the season and with both teams sitting at the bottom of the table the pressure was always going to be on.   There was no denying  that Tiptree started well with good controlled passing and strong defending and they kept possession well.   A corner well taken by Joe Hart found Connor Murphy who neatly placed the ball in the back of the net to give Tiptree a well deserved lead.   Despite some excellent football and chance after chance to increase their score Tiptree were still only 1-0 up at half time.

The second half saw a determined Danbury who seemed to be much more into the game than  a rather tired looking Tiptree,  Jamie Sleet made an excellent early save after not having had too much to do during the first half but Danbury’s persistence paid off and they found the equaliser and more importantly for them a second shortly after to snatch the lead.  Alfie Alexander  was  unlucky not to score for the Minors after hitting the bar but Tiptree just couldn’t find the equaliser they really needed.

Man of the match – Connor Murphy

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 0-0 Maldon Town

Tiptree have just not been getting the results that they really deserve of late and sitting 3rd from bottom of the table it was so important not to lose again this week.

There was consistently good play throughout the entire match from both teams with opportunity to score at either end.   The Minors keeper, Jamie Sleet made some exceptional saves to deny Maldon Town the lead,  Cameron Matthews shot over the crossbar and Joe Hart was unlucky not to score after a great pass from Connor Murphy, who ran himself into the ground  in his attempts to score.  Alfie Alexander had 2 or 3 efforts on goal and there were good defensive performances from Harry Billimore and Jack Green.

A 0-0 draw was a fair result today,  lets just hope that the boys energy and persistence has kept us from relegation.

Man of the match – Jamie Sleet

Coggeshall Town 2-1 Tiptree Minors Dodgers

Round two, the second time in two days that these teams have met and the first half was reminiscent of yesterday with a good chance for Tiptree to take the lead with   a powerful shot just wide of the goal from Cameron Matthews.   Tiptree’s keeper Jamie Sleet had a bit more work to do today and there was great work from Jack Green in defence.  Coggeshall saved a good shot from Connor Murphy who superbly smashed it right back to take the lead for Tiptree again and was unlucky not to grab a second shortly after.

More of the same in the second half with both teams persistently chasing the ball but just like yesterday Coggeshall then scored twice within minutes to win again.  Tiptree were  unlucky and really deserved a draw.

Man of the match Cameron Matthews

Tiptree Minors Dodgers   1-2 Coggeshall Town

Unlike the last time we attempted this fixture it was not snowing today but it was just as cold and windy.   Tiptree were off to a flying start with the first shot on goal going to Alfie Alexander, just over the crossbar.   With controlled passing the Minors looked impressive during the first half and following a free kick that hit the Coggeshall wall, Connor Murphy, who ran his socks off today, put the ball in the back of the net to give the Minors a well deserved lead.  There followed plenty of opportunity for Tiptree to increase their lead  while Tiptree’s keeper barely touched the ball at the other end.

However this certainly was a game of two halves and Tiptree had quite obviously gone to sleep during half time,  despite a superb save by Jamie Sleet,  Coggeshall pulled back 2 goals in a matter of minutes.  Tiptree just didn’t seem to create quite the same chances that they had earlier and really should have capitalised on the opportunities created in the first half.

Man of the match -  Connor Murphy

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 2-2 Great Notley Hawks

Both teams today have the thought of relegation in their minds and  Tiptree were anxious for a win.  Conditions were atrocious but the driving wind and rain and tricky pitch conditions didn’t stop the Minors giving 100% effort.   Tiptree’s game started neat and controlled and they created opportunities and dominated much of the first half,  passing was superb today from Joe Hart and Connor Murphy in particular and the Minors looked dangerous going forward.  Despite Harry Billimore and Jack Green battling tirelessly as ever in defence, Great Notley  slipped one in the back of the net to take the lead,  Tiptree’s persistence soon paid off with Joe Hart netting the equaliser and within minutes Cameron Matthews gave the Minors the lead.   There were further chances for the Minors to extend their lead with shots from Alfie Alexander, Joe Hart, Cameron Matthews and Harry Billimore all fired wide or to the keeper’s hands.   Substitute Jack Tibble was unbelievably unlucky not to score and with the boys now starting to tire, Ross Woolfenden was a real asset when he came on.  Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet pulled off three or four excellent saves but there was nothing he could do about the rather lucky Great Notley equaliser.

Man of the match Jack Green

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 0 – 4 Silver End

After last weeks defeat Tiptree really seemed like they wanted the win today in the second leg of this semi final and their play during the first most certainly half reflected their passion for the game.  In defence, Harry Billimore and Alfie Alexander worked their socks off  and midfield players, Cameron Matthews and Joe Hart were giving it their all yet we struggled to find the net despite early opportunity from Connor Murphy and Henry Walker.   There is nothing else you can say about Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet apart from outstanding, he made so many great saves today, particularly during the first half.   Going into half time you couldn’t say that either team really had the upper hand but the second half told a different story.   Jamie Sleet was fantastic in goal and Ross Alexander was persistent in chasing the ball however Silver End smashed in the first goal of the game and from there on in the Minors lost their flow and their chance of a place in the final slipped away.   Well done to both teams for an entertaining match.

Man of the match Jamie Sleet

Blackwater & Dengie League    League Cup Semi Final – Under 9’s

Silver End 5 – 0 Tiptree Minors Dodgers

There was consistently good play from both teams during the first half of the semi final  with Jamie Sleet making a great early save for the Minors.   Tiptree then struggled to clear the ball resulting in Silver End promptly finding the back of the net, undeterred Joe Hart, Connor Murphy and Alfie Alexander worked hard and passed well and Connor Murphy was extremely unlucky not to equalize on more than one occasion.

Into the second half and despite good clearance from Harry Billimore in  defence and Jack Green’s excellent  header Silver End snatched a second and then  their third at which point Tiptree began to feel the pressure and just couldn’t find their way back into the game.   Tiptree didn’t deserve to lose by such a big margin today, chin up and better luck in  the second leg of the semi final next week.

Man of the Match Harry Billimore

Blackwater and Dengie League Under 9’s

Blackwater Division

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers  1 – 6 Tiptree Minors Dodgers

Tiptree were hungry for a win today but the opening minutes of the game didn’t look to promising for the boys with Dunmow having a strong start,  Tiptree’s excellent keeper, Jamie Sleet however made 2 great saves and denied Dunmow an early lead.   New boy Connor Murphy brought Tiptree right back into the game with a speedy goal at the other end and a great goal from Cameron Matthews made it 2 for the Minors within a space of 5 minutes.   Tiptree were on a mission and were unlucky not to get 3rd from Connor Murphy thanks to great clearance from the Dunmow defence.    Dunmow pulled one back with a cracking goal but the standard of the Minors teamwork was superb today and created the chance for Connor Murphy to find the back of the net again.

Harry Billimore and Jack Green, with his wonderfully accurate headers,  were outstanding in defence today as was Henry Walker denying Dunmow too much further opportunity to score in the first half.   Alfie Alexander was close to upping the Minors lead but it was a determined Joe Hart who came through with Tiptree’s 4th.

Defender Harry Billimore’s tackles and clearance were superb in the second half and Jamie Sleet again showed what a great keeper he is.   Alfie Alexander was again unlucky with a shot just wide of goal and Joe Hart netted his second of the match.  Ross Woolfenden was on track for the Minor’s 6th with a great run through the Dunmow defence but just couldn’t find the strike,  he was however instrumental in setting up the goal that gave Joe Hart his hatrick and a well deserved win for the Minors.

Man of the match – Joe Hart.

Blackwater and Dengie League Under 9’s 17th February

Blackwater Division

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 1 – 2 Heybridge Youth

There was no denying that the Minors started well today with early opportunity to score from Henry Walker and the boys showed great team work with some nice passing. With no substitutes on a freezing cold day we all thought the boys were performing extremely well; Harry Billimore was persistent in chasing and winning the ball during the first half along with Jack Green who gave it his all in defence as usual.   Goalkeeper Jamie Sleet made an exceptional save to deny Heybridge the lead with another shortly after and Alfie Alexander was unlucky not to grab a goal for the Minors to snatch the lead.  Much to the Minors disappointment Heybridge were first to find the back of the net with a great goal and it was unfortunate for the Minors that despite all of their efforts,  they just couldn’t seem to get the equalizer.   Henry Walker’s superb shot that just clipped the inside of the post and a shot from Joe Hart that skimmed the top of the crossbar should have seen us level.

The great team work continued with yet another chance for Joe Hart but Heybridge again found the net.  Tiptree fought straight back with Alfie Alexander pulling back one for the Minors and  good play from birthday boy Cameron Matthews..   Tiptree had an infinite amount of chances to score however they didn’t grab the opportunity and Heybridge did. Well played nether the less.

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 2 – 3 Valley Green

Tiptree started today with new boy Jack Tibble and immediately put Valley Green under pressure with early opportunity to score from Joe Hart,  the Minors kept possession during the opening 10 minutes with good defending and passing of much better quality than of late.   Valley Green fought back and created  a very good goal and took the lead.   Undeterred,  Tiptree’s Joe Hart crossed in a good pass to defender Harry Billimore who smashed in a suprise equaliser for the Minors, his first this season.   Not to be outdone,  Valley Green hit straight back with their second to grab the lead again.  There was further opportunity for Tiptree during the remainder of the first half and Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet, made a superb save to deny Valley Green their second.   On came Tiptree’s other new signing,  Connor Murphy who displayed some nifty footwork and great pace.   Jack Green and Harry Billimore worked consistently in defence and before long the well deserved equaliser came from Cameron Matthews after a well taken corner from Joe Hart.

The second half looked promising for the Minors with an early chance to take the lead,  both teams battled hard to grab the winning goal and  between Alfie Alexander, Connor Murphy and Joe Hart there was plenty of  opportunity to score.  Despite giving it their all, Tiptree just didn’t find the back of the net that one last time where  Valley Green did and clinched the win.   A much improved performance from Tiptree today and they did not deserve to lose.

3rd February 2008

Fennlands United                        1       Tiptree Minors Dodgers               2

This game was always going to be difficult with the squad down to the bear bones, after last week's improved performance we had high hopes.

The boys started very well and looked to carry on with a more organised game, and when the Minors went 1 0 up thanks to some really good passing from Joe Hart and Cameron Matthews cross saw Alfie Alexander finish well to put the Minors in the lead.

However I think the goal went to our head and the boys stopped passing and looked like a team who had not played together before. Fennlands started to enjoy more of the game playing downhill with the wind and scored a good equaliser on the break after a Tiptree Corner.

After the break the boys started to wake up and really played some good football, good defending from Jack and Henry kept fennlands at bay whilst Joe Hart worked tirelessly to keep pushing forward.  Joe had 2 shots blocked and we started to increase the pressure. Cameron thought he was Ronaldo and tried scoring from too far out only to suprise everyone with a decent effort not far wide.

Alfie kept leading the line and putting pressure on and eventually we got the breakthrough a scrappy move in the box eventually fell to jack and he duely scored from a yard out (I hope by the time he got home it was outside the box in the top corner).

A throroughly improved battling second half saw the boys get a deserved win. Harry and Ross you were missed please come back soon.

27th January 2008 Blackwater & Dengie League

Tiptree Minors Dodgers 0 – 2 Notley Youth Vipers

Despite Notley taking  the lead in the first half the Minors had by far their best game of the year so far.   They showed today how they can work hard together as a team and displayed some good passing.  Tiptree’s best shot on goal in the first half came from Ross Woolfenden but was well saved by the Notley keeper with further opportunity for the Minors to equalize from Alfie Alexander.  Great defensive play from Tiptree today from Harry Billimore and Jack Green.

More of the same in the second half and despite Tiptree continuing to play well Notley grabbed a second goal while the Minors just couldn’t find the back of the net today.

Man of the match Cameron Matthews

13th January 2008 Blackwater & Dengie League

Silver End 6 – 1 Tiptree  Minors Dodgers

The game today did not start well with Silver End scoring within minutes of kicking off.   There was an opportunity shortly after for Henry Walker to equalise for the Minors but Silver End really had the run of the pitch and went into half time 3 goals up.   More of the same in the second half with yet another Silver End goal,  Tiptree’s Ross Woolfenden played brilliantly and created the goal scored by Alfie Alexander.    Silver End finished off with another couple and deserved their win, their passing today was superb.

Man of the match – Joe Hart.

6th January  Blackwater & Dengie League

Notley Youth Hawks  1 – 0 Tiptree Minors Dodgers

It was a very slow start to the first game of the new year today with very little opportunity to score at either end.   Tiptree’s Cameron Matthews and Joe Hart displayed some fine passing and Jack Green and Henry Walker worked tirelessly in defence.   The game started to pick up a bit of pace towards the end of the first half but there wasn’t a goal in sight.

Notley certainly had more shots on goal in the second half and despite Jack Green’s consistently good defending and great keeping from Jamie Sleet,  Notley scored the only goal in a rather scrappy game.

Man of the match – Jack Green

28th October 2007

Heybridge Youth Lions               1             Tiptree Minors Dodgers               0

Heybridge started the game well with an early shot on goal which hit the crossbar and Tiptree knew they would have to work really hard to get a win today.   There was great play again from Jack Green with nice team work from Alfie Alexander and Cameron Matthews who really ran their socks of this week.   Joe Hart was unlucky not give the Minors the lead with a great header from a corner and Harry Billimore and Henry Walker worked tirelessly at the back again for the Minors.  A free kick for a hand ball  gave Tiptree hope just before half time but they just couldn’t find the net.

Second half and it was more of the same,  both teams really worked hard today, Ross Woolfenden was so close to scoring for the Minors and Heybridge kept the pressure on giving Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet a very busy morning.   An extremely unfortunate own goal gave Heybridge the win today but all credit to the boys who were fantastic today.

Man of the match Joe Hart

21st October 2007

Valley Green Pumas      1      Tiptree Minors Dodgers   1

Without a shadow of a doubt Tiptree dominated the first half with Cameron Matthews, Joe Hart and Jack Green displaying some excellent controlled passes and the first opportunity of a goal going to Tiptree’s Josh Pollard with a shot that was just wide.  Josh again was unlucky not to score after a free kick created a further opportunity.  The Minors Henry Walker and Harry Billimore were strong at the back and  helped to ensure the Minors kept possession of the ball for the majority of the first 25 minutes.  Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet got a hand to a Valley Green free kick however it was kicked  straight back and Valley Green took a surprise lead.  Not to be deterred Tiptree came right back with yet another great chance to score for Joe Hart.  Thereafter Tiptree had chance after chance, corner after corner and finally just before the half time whistle a corner taken by Cameron Matthews found the foot of Josh Pollard who got the well deserved equaliser for the Minors.

The second half saw both teams determined to find the winning goal.  Tiptree continued to create good opportunities with determined play from Ross Woolfenden who was unlucky not to score and further good passing.  The boys remained neat in defence, well done Jack Green,  and  Jamie Sleet again made some great saves, despite a last push from both teams the score remained 1-1.

Every boy on the team gave his all today and the score should have been far greater.

Man of the match – Jack Green

14th October

Tiptree Minors Dodgers               3     Fennlands United                       1

From the off Tiptree knew that Fennlands were giving it their all today and despite excellent work from Alfie Alexander and a cracking save by Jamie Sleet,  Fennlands were first to find the net with a well deserved goal.  An unfortunate hand ball gave Tiptree a penalty, taken by Josh Pollard, bringing the Minors level at half time.

The second half saw Tiptree more determined for the win,  both teams worked hard for the next goal but it was Josh Pollard again for Tiptree who gave the Minors the lead.  Good work in defence and a great run by Josh Pollard, passed to Jack Green who smashed home Tiptree’s 3rd  ensured the Minors continued their excellent start to the season with yet another victory.

Man of the match – Alfie Alexander

Maldon Town Panthers   1   Tiptree Minors Dodgers   2

Tiptree showed real determination in the first half with particularly strong play from Henry Walker today and Jack Green worked hard  in defence with some great clearance shots.  The Minor’s keeper, Jamie Sleet showed just how good he is after a great save from a Maldon free kick and despite Maldon finding the back of the net shortly after,  Tiptree came straight back with some classy passes and were right back in the game after a great attempt from Cameron Matthews was well saved by the Maldon keeper.   Maldon created further chances but were denied by Tiptree’s excellent keeper. This really was a game of 2 halves and Tiptree came back ready to win.   Again Jamie Sleet’s keeping denied Maldon after they were awarded yet another free kick and back at the other end Tiptree were unlucky not to score after they were awarded a free kick.  Harry Billimore had opportunity to score after a great run and the excellent teamwork between Alfie Alexander and Joe Hart resulted in Joe scoring the well deserved equaliser for Tiptree.  Further good passing between Harry Billimore and Cameron Matthews gave Alfie Alexander the ball he needed to give Tiptree the winning goal today and the boys totally deserved the result.Man of the match Harry Billimore

Tiptree Minors Dodgers   1   Great Notley Vipers        2

Yet again The Minors performance was superb today with exceptional passing and strong defending from the entire team.  Harry Billimore was unlucky not to give the Minor the lead with a good shot skimming over the crossbar and accurate passing between Cameron Matthews, Joe Hart  and Alfie Alexander  created excellent opportunties throughout the first half.  Tiptree’s keeper Jamie Sleet made a great save and Alfie Alexander came right back at the other end for the Minors with a shot just wide of the goal.  There were further chances for the Minors including a free kick well taken by Cameron Matthews which met the Notley wall.   The second half saw an early opportunity for Notley but the Tiptree defence denied them the opportunity to take the lead  and again a great run by Alfie Alexander should have resulted with a goal for the Minors.  An unfortunate own goal gave Notley the lead but an undeterred Tiptree battled back and would have equalised had it not been for the great work of the Notley keeper.   Notley found the net again and were denied their 3rd from a free kick with a great save from Jamie Sleet.  The boys never gave up and good teamwork from Harry Billimore, Joe Hart and Alfie Alexander resulted in the Minors pulling a goal back and were so very unlucky not to equalise. On this freezing cold and windy morning the boys did not fail to keep the pressure on and provided a very entertaining match.

Man of the match – Jamie Sleet

Heybridge Youth Lions   2     Tiptree Minors Dodgers   4

Despite the first shot on goal going to Heybridge the Minors were on top form  today and soon showed just how well they can really play football.    Jack Green in his less usual position in defence did a fantastic job along with Harry Billimore. The quality of passing from the whole team throughout the match was exceptional but  particularly from Josh Pollard and Joe Hart’s control of the ball was impressive.  A great ball accurately passed down the line from Harry Billimore to Josh Pollard then found Alifie Alexander who got his well deserved first goal of the season.    Cameron Matthews also had a strong game today and was unlucky not to score.A second goal from Alfie Alexander early in the second half boosted the Minors further and superb goal from Josh Pollard promptly made it 3 for Tiptree.   The Minors remained strong in defence for most of the second half with Tiptree’s keeper Jamie Sleet having little work to do,   at the other end Alfie Alexander smashed in his 3rd for his first ever hatrick.   Well done to Ross Woolfenden who had a strong half, coming straight back on the pitch despite receiving an injury.Heybridge pulled 2 back however the Minors performance was outstanding today,  they really worked hard as a team and created many opportunities.

Man of the match Alfie Alexander

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers  1    Tiptree Minors Dodgers   0

This was the first time these two teams had met in the league and Tiptree looked to have a good game today with an excellent start from Alfie Alexander and an early opportunity to score for Jack Green.   The Minors really dominated the first half with good controlled play from Harry Billimore in defence and Josh Pollard would have scored had the Dunmow keeper not made such a good save.   However,  despite having only really had one shot on goal for the first 20 minutes,  Dunmow found the net and went into half time with the lead. The Minors continued to create opportunities to score in the second half and Dunmow certainly gave Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet more work to do but his good goalkeeping denied them a second goal, as for Tiptree,  good play but they just couldn’t find the back of the net today.

Man of the match – Harry Billimore

Great Notley Vipers                    4       Tiptree Minors Dodgers               0

It was a promising start for the Minors today who created chances early on, a great pass from Alfie Alexander gave Jack Green a great opportunity to put Tiptree in the lead but it was denied by the excellent Notley keeper.  There was consistently good play from both teams throughout the first half but Notley found the net first,  Tiptree fought back with Jack Green and Joe Hart’s further accurate shots on goal but again the Notley keeper excelled.Tiptree battled on and began the second half well but just couldn’t’ find the back of the net today.  An unfortunate own goal and two further Notley goals finished Tiptree’s hope of a fourth consecutive win,  Notley played well and earned the win but the final score in no way reflected the way the Minors played today.

Man of the match Cameron Matthews

23rd September 2007

Danbury Juniors             1     Tiptree Minors Dodgers   2

It was the second week running that Danbury and Tiptree had met and the first goal of the match went to the Minor’s top scorer, Josh Pollard,  just minutes into the game with his second coming just moments later.   Alfie Alexander was unlucky not to make it 3 and with the wind in Tiptree’s favour and good team work the Minor’s dominated much of the first half. With Danbury having the advantage of the wind in the second half, Tiptree’s keeper, Jamie Sleet,  really had his work cut out and worked tirelessly to deny Danbury the chance to score.  Eventually Danbury pulled one back but Tiptree continued to push for another goal and the Minor’s had plenty of opportunities to increase their lead,  had it not been for 2 fantastic saves by the Danbury keeper and the superb goal keeping by Tiptree the final score would have been much greater.   Excellent football from both teams today.

Man of the Match – Jamie Sleet

16th September 2007

Tiptree Minors Dodgers   1  Danbury Juniors   0

From the start Tiptree looked odds on to score with many opportunities to take the lead,   throughout the entire  first half the Minors kept the pressure on but just couldn’t make contact with the back of the net.Second half saw more of the same with some excellent football from both teams,   in an action packed 25 minutes Tiptree’s Joe Hart hit home a well deserved goal to give the Minor’s the lead,  Danbury were denied the equaliser on a number of occasions thanks to sterling  work from the Tiptree keeper, Jamie  Sleet and despite both teams creating further chances and working tirelessly the score remained unchanged giving Tiptree their second win of the season.

Man of the Match – Joe Hart
